Okeanos Research Laboratory, located in the Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University, seeks to innovate and develop new and highly effective maritime materials that will protect optical sensors, ships and submarines from the costly consequences of marine corrosion and bio-fouling. Okeanos accomplishes this goal by advancing fundamental knowledge about the materials science aspects of marine invertebrates by conducting cellular biology, genomics, polymer chemistry multidisciplinary research projects, by development of new advanced imaging and spectroscopic tools.
